HOW 2 RISO

Editorial, Risography, Print

WHAT IS HOW TO RISO
How to Riso is an instructional zine designed for beginners exploring the process of risograph printing. The piece embraces an unconventional format, folding horizontally three times to break away from traditional zine structures and invite playful interaction.

Both informative and experimental, it aims to guide newcomers through the basics of riso while reflecting the medium’s own spirit of trial, error, and discovery.

CONCEPT
The visual language of the project is inspired by IKEA’s iconic instruction manuals—minimal diagrams, clean lines, and straightforward step-by-step sequences.

By adopting this familiar aesthetic, the project playfully recontextualizes risography as something accessible and approachable, demystifying a process that can often seem intimidating to beginners.

The mash-up between a corporate flat-pack aesthetic and a DIY print culture underscores the balance between precision and improvisation at the heart of risograph printing.
